Organic Mountain Tea – Biorama

The most common English name other than Mountain Tea is “Shepherd’s Tea”, because Greek shepherds would use the plants to make a brewed tea while tending their flocks high in the hills.

Greek Mountain Tea is produced from the dried leaves and flowers of Sideritis plants.  They were rich in a number of natural antioxidants, including flavonoids, and almost all species also contained essential oils.

If you are drinking this tea cold or hot, sweet or unsweetened, you can be certain that it won’t leave you disappointed. Hippocrates, who is often considered the father of modern medicine, wrote about Mountain Tea and it’s health benefits while praising it for it’s ability to heal the body when brewed with hot water.

Greek mountain tea is great as a breakfast tea and is soothing to the stomach as a post-meal drink. On hot days, it is refreshing served cold, with ice. Greek mountain tea pairs perfectly with a snack of crusty bread, olives, peppers, and feta cheese.
